If you’re looking for some relaxing downtime in tranquil surroundings, but with plenty of opportunities to get active and enjoy the great outdoors, a stay at Boloco station is a great solution! Boloco station is a working sheep farm located near Beloka, a short drive from the Snowy Mountains. Guests can choose from two options when it comes to accommodation: a stay in the rustic Shearers’ hut; or spending some time in Rose Cottage, a self-contained, detached property that’s part of the farm complex.
Shearers’ Hut – everything you need for a pleasant stay!
Sensitively modernised and renovated, the Shearer’s Hut provides accommodation that’s clean and cosy at the same time as having a pleasantly rustic feel. Able to accommodate up to six guests, the Hut benefits from three bedrooms (with four beds between them), as well as step-free access throughout. A well-equipped kitchen enables guests to cook up a storm – or, if you prefer, why not let super-host Trynie provide you with a slow-cooked meal using meat from the farm? With venison and lamb available, a hearty, home-cooked dinner is just the thing to come home to after a day on the hills.
Free parking, air-con and open fires
Nights can be chilly in the Snowy Mountains, which is why open fires are an absolute essential! If you’re out hiking or skiing during the day, Trynie will be happy to keep your fire stoked, so that you return to blissful warmth after the outdoor chill. With electric blankets, heaters and plenty of cosy bedding, you’ll always be snug no matter what the weather may bring. When the thermometer rises, air conditioning ensures a comfortable temperature indoors. If the weather makes outdoor activities a less-than-appealing option, the Hut has a good stock of games and DVDs to keep everyone amused. Ideal for a family break, the Shearers’ Hut is also a great option for small groups or even a quiet retreat for couples who are looking to get away from it all for a few days.
Home to native wildlife
The sheep farm is a large one, and not just home to sheep! If you like local wildlife, then a walk around the farm is a must! From deer and wallabies through to kangaroos, native birds, insects and more, the area is a haven for animals. Children particularly love the variety of animals close at hand to admire!
A great location for skiing or hiking
If you want to spend time up in the Snowy Mountains, the Shearers’ Hut is a great base from which to explore. Suitable for visitors who want to ski, there are also numerous hiking trails virtually on the doorstep! There are routes available for all ages and abilities – if you’re not sure what’s going to be best for your party, your hosts are always on hand to advise! There are opportunities for horse riding nearby, including lessons and hacks for beginners and less experienced riders.
Plenty to do on rest days
In addition to the Snowy Mountains, there’s also a fair bit to enjoy at Beloka and Jindabyne, the local towns. At Jindabyne, visitors can find out more about the nearby area at the Snowy Region Visitors’ Centre. The Wildbrumby Schnapps Distillery is also a popular visitor attraction – in addition to free tasting on arrival, there’s also the chance to purchase award-winning schnapps, gin and vodka, created from pure Alpine water and natural botanicals. There is also a good selection of local restaurants, many of which feature local produce and ingredients on the menu.
Superhosts that always give you more
When you stay at the Shearers’ Hut, you get far more than an attractive, comfortable place to stay! The hosts are committed to ensuring that every visitor enjoys an exceptional experience. From opportunities to enjoy home-cooked food through to complementary toiletries and a number of other touches, everything is done to make visitors as welcome as possible. Visitors who return a third time (and many do) are in for a particular treat: a complementary basket of goodies, sourced from local providers. In addition to foodstuffs and wine, the basket also contains bottles of still and sparkling Beloka mineral water – an award-winning mineral water that’s sourced just down the road, from a natural spring located near the unspoiled beauty of the Kosciuszko National Park.
Beloka – a great accompaniment to Trynie’s venison curry!
Beloka water has a delicate flavour, due to naturally occurring minerals. Carefully bottled to ensure the purity and taste are retained, Beloka is a popular choice as a stand-alone beverage, an accompaniment to coffee or a suitable option to serve with any meal of the day. Proudly Australian, Beloka is a popular choice at many local restaurants and hotels. Get in touch to find out more about Beloka, including our options for private labelling.
