At Beloka, we love fine food as much as we enjoy the premium mineral water we bottle that provides such a perfect accompaniment. One of the highlights of our work is sitting down to lunch at one of the local restaurants or brasseries our customers run. On this occasion we were lucky enough to have lunch at what we believe to be one of the best, most authentic Italian restaurants you’ll find near Sydney. Located in Horsley Park, Terranova combines a stunning menu with some of the most welcoming and knowledgeable staff we’ve come across.
A family tradition of fine food
The story behind Terranova is a touching one, showing how a passion and commitment to creating the very best Italian food spans generations in the Scullino family. The tale begins over in Calabria, where Salvatore Scullino ran a successful deli/bakery. One of his sons, Rocco, emigrated to Australia in the early 60s, leaving his older brother to continue running the deli over in Italy. Rocco’s sad death in 2008 served as a catalyst for his sons Domenico and Salvatore, who worked together to open Terranova in 2013, in honour of their late father. Their aim is simple: to provide exceptional Italian food that showcases the authentic flavours and recipes of the Calabria region.
Plenty of space and a chic, contemporary interior with traditional accents
The restaurant combines a spacious, modern interior with some striking rustic features that provide an appealing style fusion. We loved the stone bar and spacious patio, which also offers a great opportunity for al fresco dining. As well as being perfect for small groups or couples, Terranova has the capacity to seat up to 200 for a special function. If you’re planning a wedding, birthday celebration or similar event in Horsley Park, this is the place to go!
Amazing menu, with something for everybody
Whether you are a pasta connoisseur, have a passion for sea food or crave a pizza that’s authentically crafted and cooked, Terranova’s menu has it all. The menu encompasses appetisers, entrees, main courses, sides and salads, as well as pizzas, pasta dishes and a handy kids’ menu. We chose Bruschetta Boats (fresh wood fire bread, diced tomato, garlic, oregano, basil and crumbled feta, drizzled with balsamic glaze and olive oil). Beautifully presented, what struck us was the freshness of the flavours: everything worked well, creating a delightful dish that was the perfect commencement to our meal.
When it comes to main courses, we really were spoiled for choice! In the end, we opted for La Cosa Nostra (tomato base, boccincini cheese, marinated eggplant and marinated mushroom topped with prosciutto crudo and fresh ricotta) and Pesce Al Cartoccio (whole baked snapper with extra virgin olive oil, fresh herbs, lemon, garlic and cherry tomatoes). Again, Terranova didn’t disappoint! The simplicity of the dishes is deceptive: the marinades, for example, were a sophisticated fusion of flavours which transformed the eggplant and mushrooms into something truly special. Cooked to perfection and bursting with taste, this is Italian cuisine at its finest.
Deliciously light Cannoli and an espresso completed our meal, which we accompanied with bottles of sparkling Beloka water. If you’re located in or around Horsley Park, we thoroughly recommend you drop by and pay Terranova a visit. The emphasis on fresh, premium ingredients, authentically prepared and cooked using traditional methods, results in a selection of dishes which capture the essence of Calabrian cuisine wonderfully well. At Beloka, we are proud to provide top-quality, Australian mineral water to accompany the fine dining you’ll enjoy at Terranova. From a lazy lunch through to a more formal corporate affair, Terranova is an excellent option.
