With its cool, bubbly, and refreshing taste, softdrinks are a common favourite among households. The downside is that the store-bought version of this beverage is often laden with artificial sweeteners, colourants, and preservatives which all have an adverse effect for our body.

If you’re looking for an alternative to store bought soft drinks then you’re in luck! You can actually make your own healthy fizzy beverage at home with just Beloka Sparkling Water!

Beloka Sparkling Water is carbonated water so it acts as an excellent base for your homemade drinks. From here, you can customise your own flavours from a wide variety combinations you can easily find in your kitchen! Here are four recipes you can try:

1. Lemongrass and Lime Soda

This is a zesty and absolutely refreshing beverage you’ll want to keep by your side especially on a hot day. You’ll need ¼ cup of lemon zest, ¼ cup of lime zest, two stalks of chopped lemongrass, ¾ cups of simple syrup, and six cups of Beloka Sparkling Water. Simply boil two cups of your sparkling water together with the lemon and lime zest in a small saucepan for five minutes and then chill. Combine with ice, lemongrass, and the remaining four cups sparkling water and enjoy!

2. Rhubarb Soda

This pink treat can easily become a fan favourite on your next picnic. Simply simmer 3 cups of chopped rhubarb, 1 1/2 cups water and 1 cup sugar over medium heat until broken down and syrupy for about 15 to 20 minutes. Let it cool completely, then strain through a cloth-lined sieve, pressing on the solids. Mix with Beloka Sparkling Water and serve.

3. Cherry Vanilla Soda

Fragrant cherries and vanilla will awaken your senses and refresh your palate in this delightful recipe. You’ll need to simmer 2 cups cherry juice, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1 split, scraped vanilla bean (seeds and pod) over medium heat until syrupy for about 15 to 20 minutes. Strain and let it cool completely. Mix it with Beloka sparkling water and enjoy.

4. Watermelon and Mint Soda

The coolness of watermelon and the freshness of mint shines through in this soda recipe. Simply simmer one cup of sugar, one cup of water, and some mint leaves. Pour this mixture over another cup of mint leaves and let it cool completely then strain. Mix with pureed watermelon and Beloka sparkling water and serve.
