Proud to be partnered with Variety

Beloka Water are proud to be partnered with the amazing team at Variety!

As a proud sponsor of Variety, the children’s charity, all of the team at Beloka Water were happy to be involved with the Variety AFL Great Grand Final Lunch, which was held recently on Wednesday the 26th of September, 2018. The Variety AFL Great Grand Final Lunch has been supporting disadvantaged children for more than 30 years with mobility, equipment, educational and financial support. This Melbourne Institution has enhanced the lives of thousands of Australian children and their families through the support of the AFL community, which is an amazing achievement for those lucky enough to be involved.

The glamorous charity luncheon was held at Crown Casino’s Palladium in Southbank, with the doors opening at 11:30 am for kickoff at 12:00 noon. It was attended by some of the leading current and former legends of Australian Rules football, such as Matthew Suckling and Brian Lake, who were also spokesmen on the day. The prestigious celebration, dedicated to recognising and rewarding some of the amazing people involved in the game both on and off the field, was acclaimed to be a great success, in terms of money raised and the positive feedback of all of the guests who attended.

With individual tickets, tables and corporate packages available, there was a wide range of options for those who chose to attend the luncheon. As expected, this premier event on the AFL calendar attracted a large crowd of sponsors, coaches, players, socialites and football fans. It showcased a sumptuous three-course menu prepared by some of Melbourne’s top chefs, paired with matching fine wines and beers. The annual luncheon raffle also had a massive prize pool up for grabs, with one lucky guest taking home a brand new Kia Cerato.

At this year’s Variety Great Grand Final Luncheon, the guests were lucky enough to have Craig Willis as MC, paying tribute to football legend Tommy Hafey, as well as Mike Brady, of “Up There Cazaly” fame, providing some of the day’s entertainment. All of the money raised from the luncheon was donated to assist children with mobility issues and their families to buy manual and powered wheelchairs, walkers, standing frames and modified trikes, enabling them to have a higher quality of life and more active role in the community.

About Variety Australia

Variety Australia is a leading national charity for children introduced to provide a support network for children and their families faced with challenges ranging from sickness and disadvantage to disability. The charity is committed to helping children gain mobility and freedom, allowing them to achieve independence in the community, as well as increase their self-esteem. Variety also aims to assist children with integrating into mainstream schools and activities, in cases where this is possible.

Every month Variety Australia distributes over $1 million dollars for children and families who are unable to afford specialist care and equipment and don’t have access to the necessary government support. The money comes from a range of programs such as volunteering, donations, workplace giving and corporate sponsorship.

Types of support available

In order to more effectively help children and their families living with these challenges, Variety offers three different types of support, which are tailored to suit individual needs.

Mobility

The first of these involves supplying financial support for children with a wide range of mobility issues, to assist them in gaining freedom and independence. Money is provided for mobility aids, such as wheelchairs, hoists and vehicle modifications.

Medical

Through Variety, families are able to care for children suffering from medical conditions in the comfort of their own homes, with access to crucial medical items and equipment, ranging from nappies, sensory equipment and orthotics to seizure alarms.

Schools and organisations

Variety assists schools and organisations with helping children in need by supplying equipment, such as all-ability playgrounds and Liberty swings, which are modified for those with special needs, as well as Sunshine coaches, equipped with essential features like wheelchair access.
